2026 Outlook: What We Expect for Our Shop and the Manufacturing Industry

All Metals Fabricating has been around for 73 years now, and that kind of longevity doesn’t happen by accident. We’ve spent decades growing and evolving, and we always enjoy pausing around the new year to reflect on what we accomplished and consider what’s next for both the manufacturing industry and our shop.

2025 was one of our strongest years yet, and we’re looking ahead to 2026 with plans to deliver even more value across your manufacturing process.

2025: Our Momentum Keeps Building

2025 was a great year at All Metals, with more wins than we can fit in one update. A few of the highlights include:

  • We expanded our machining capabilities, highlighted by the addition of our Kitamura 5-axis machining center, which significantly increased our lights-out manufacturing capacity.
  • All Metals Fabricating was named to The Dallas Morning News Top Workplaces D-FW 2025 list on the strength of our employees’ feedback.
  • Our CEO Lance Thrailkill was featured on several news programs across the country, offering an owner’s viewpoint on the potential impact of tariffs on the American manufacturing industry.

But there is perhaps one achievement that stands out above all. We’re still finalizing the numbers, but 2025 likely saw the highest throughput and demand in our shop’s history, reflecting the trust our partners place in us.

It wasn’t always easy, of course. As demand surged in the fourth quarter, our team stepped up in a big way, logging significant overtime to deliver more projects. That kind of impressive dedication is characteristic of our team, and it’s one reason we spent much of 2025 highlighting teams and leaders in departments like cutting and forming.

2026: Adding More Value for Partners

Every year, we always aim to keep raising the bar. To do that this coming year, we’re focused on adding capacity and reducing bottlenecks in a variety of ways.

Hiring, second shift, and expansion plans

As projects grow, we know that our team must grow, too. We increased our shop-floor headcount by roughly 15% at the end of 2025, and we’re working toward launching a second shift, in addition to our 2nd shift powder coating. We’re also exploring physical expansion options to ensure we have the space to support even higher volumes and will finalize our plan to add additional manufacturing space this year.

Equipment investments to improve throughput

We may not make a single major purchase as transformative as our Kitamura Supercell, but 2026 will still include meaningful equipment additions. We placed a PO for a new automated copper busbar punching system and a busbar bending machine that will be delivered in late Summer or early Fall. This will continue to help us solidify ourselves as a go-to manufacturer for Data Center equipment.  Another  investment we’re planning is an automated material storage system. This will help us consolidate storage, freeing up square footage for production and improving our efficiency in material handling for faster execution.

We’re also evaluating other equipment to increase capacity where it matters most, including the possibility of adding another cutting machine alongside our laser cutting machines..

Software upgrades for faster programming and smarter scheduling

In modern manufacturing, software can be just as critical as equipment, so we’re continually evaluating the latest SaaS tools. We recently purchased CloudNC, an AI programming software for mills, which will significantly automate the programming of our mills. We also just purchased Sigmanest programming software for the sheet metal side of our business.  Sigmanest will allow us to automate a lot of our programming and will greatly improve our ability to streamline the programming of large packages by batch processing them. That will help us to increase throughput in programming substantially and improve leads times on large packages of new parts.

We’re also exploring options for a new ERP. A new platform will enable more dynamic scheduling and better visibility, opening additional production windows for customers.

AS9100

We’re exploring new certifications, as well. After completing our latest ISO audit, we began evaluating AS9100 certification. We already support aerospace and defense in many forms, but we know that AS9100 would formalize the quality these industries expect. If your company would be able and willing to give us additional work if we were AS9100 certified, then please let me know so that we can make sure that this investment will generate additional business.

The Manufacturing Landscape in Texas and Beyond

What lies ahead for the manufacturing industry in general? It’s hard to say. Many forecasts expect demand to stay relatively flat overall, but one notable exception is North Texas manufacturing.

Our North Texas region has become a hub for data centers, driving significant activity. We support many data center industry clients with our capabilities, including extensive copper bus bar manufacturing. Our automated cutting and bending solutions, paired with our new copper busbar punching and bending system will continue to position us to support this rapidly growing demand.  We’re investing now so that we can keep pace with the booming growth in the industry and continue to meet our partners’ needs.
