After a record year in 2025, All Metals Fabricating set ambitious 2026 goals to continue growing and expanding in ways that would help our customers. Now, halfway through the year, we’ve made strong progress in several major initiatives, including second shift, increased headcount, AI implementation, and expedites in our precision machining department.
And we have exciting news about a major physical expansion planned for the second half of the year.
One of our biggest priorities has been adding second-shift capacity in key departments. While All Metals has long used automation to run certain equipment lights-out overnight, some areas of the shop still depend on skilled operators to keep work moving.
We now have a second shift operating in three departments: laser cutting, punching and bending, and powder coating. This has significantly expanded our capabilities in overnight production.
In laser cutting, for example, some equipment with automated capabilities has already given us overnight capacity. But with second-shift support, we can keep more equipment running effectively and respond more quickly if a machine stops or needs attention.
Powder coating is another process that is heavily dependent on manual operations. As a result, second shift staffing has made a major difference in our powder coating throughput. With a more complete team in place, the department is moving faster and becoming more efficient.
In total, we have increased our total headcount by about 12%. That includes both second shift and additional first-shift team members across multiple areas of the shop. We have invested significant time in training these new employees, and they are already contributing to our expanding capacity.
Another major 2026 goal has been the rollout of new AI tools inside the business. All Metals has built and deployed a customized large language model (LLM), and we’re in the process of using agentic AI to automate manual administrative tasks.
Our aim is to reduce repetitive work so our team can spend more time on higher-value activities. Automating certain internal tasks gives our people more time to focus on customer needs.
Offering expedited and quick-turn services was another major 2026 goal. Historically, All Metals has been careful about taking on hot work because we never wanted one customer’s urgent project to disrupt another customer’s order already in process.
We have waited many years to make sure we had the right combination of equipment, headcount, and digital tools before opening the door to expedites. But by creating additional machine shop capacity in 2025 with our new Kitamura Supercell-300G and expanded staffing, we are now able to take on select quicker-turn machining jobs.
The first half of the year has been full of exciting progress on most of our initiatives, but the second half of the year may be even more exciting.
Through a partnership with one of our data center customers, All Metals is opening an additional 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility with approximately $7 million in new equipment to start.
The new facility will be focused on data center manufacturing, but it will also give us additional capacity for other precision fabrication projects that align with the equipment and processes in place. We expect it to be operational by Thanksgiving.
A major part of the investment is an automated Salvagnini S4 + P4 punch and panel bending line with integrated cut-to-bend technology. This advanced system is truly impressive, and it allows material to move directly from cutting to bending without manual intervention. For customers, that means extremely fast production and far more capacity for high-volume sheet metal projects that need to move quickly.
The facility will also include capacity for:
Ultimately, for our customers, this facility will lead to more capacity, more flexibility, and more room to handle quick-turn opportunities without disrupting existing production.
All Metals continues to grow so we can support our customers as best we can. If you have an upcoming project that could use a trusted manufacturing partner, request a quote today!
