At All Metals Fabricating, we’re ready to handle your toughest precision welding projects. And that’s thanks to our experienced welding and grinding team and their skilled department lead, Jose Martinez.
Welding is central to our custom metal fabrication, and our team includes nine full-time welders and two highly skilled grinders. Our welders have an average of more than 20 years in the trade, a fitting level of experience for a shop as longstanding as ours. Many of them hold American Welding Society (AWS) certifications in different processes, ensuring we can take on a range of customer requirements.

Team lead Jose Martinez began his career in sheet metal fabrication almost forty years ago, first operating a punch press. One day, a supervisor from the nearby welding department asked him if he wanted to learn to weld. And that’s been his calling ever since.
Jose has been at All Metals Fabricating for 7 years now, and he’d been trying to become part of the team for even longer.
“I wanted to work at All Metals for years, but it wasn’t easy,” Jose said. “I saw this little window to get in, and I jumped at it. Now that I’m here, I love it. It’s been a great 7 years.”
Two years ago, AMF leadership promoted him to lead the welding department, and he stepped up to the challenge.
“When they asked me to be the lead of the welding department, it was something new to me,” Jose said. “That’s a big new challenge forty years into my career, you know? But in sheet metal, every day you have to learn something new.
“I’m so proud to be here, and I was so proud to take this opportunity to help them and help myself.”
Jose’s duties include supporting welders with technical guidance and coordinating with other departments, in addition to his own welding responsibilities. He starts each day by meeting with his team to align on projects, schedules, and priorities, before beginning his hands-on work. His leadership style is focused on both teaching and listening, in line with our focus on servant leadership at All Metals.
“Every day I chat with my guys to see how they’re feeling,” he said. “I try to keep them busy and happy at the same time. I always want to make sure they have everything they need and they’re happy to be working at All Metals.”
All Metals has also provided him with leadership training and development resources, helping him to get settled in his role. His growth has been clear, and the results show it, according to Brian Hunt, Plant Manager and Director of Continuous Improvement at All Metals.
“I don’t think there’s any part or project that Jose and his team couldn’t weld,” Brian said. “They do it all, from small, intricate parts to weldments so big they need to be moved by a crane. With all the experience and expertise they have, if it can fit in our building, they find a way to do it.”
Our CEO, Lance Thrailkill, noted that he’s always been impressed with Jose’s drive, and has loved watching him thrive in a leadership role.
“Jose has really come into his own and been an amazing leader for the welding department,” Lance said. “Welding has always been a big part of what we do here at All Metals Fabricating, so we need both a great team and an expert lead. Jose has kept the team running at its best, and I couldn’t be prouder!”
